Chameleon Therapy Centre Ltd. offers a professional and confidential Psychotherapy, Counselling and Hypnotherapy service to clients throughout Northamptonshire and the surrounding areas. Chameleon Coaching and Therapy, is located in Higham Ferrers, Rushden.  Chalene Long has 13 years of experience in the profession offering support for a number of mental and emotional issues to couple, adults, children and young people. She is a Senior Accredited Psychotherapist, Counsellor, Hypnotherapist and Clinical Supervisor with an advanced diploma in Counselling Psychotherapy, a diploma in Hypnotherapy and a level 6 Certificate in Therapeutic Counselling Supervision, a Certificate in couples counselling.  I am a Hypno-Oncology Practitioner with the Association of Hypno-Oncology.  

 

What is our theoretical approach?

 

As an Integrative therapist, I combine my skills in psychotherapy and hypnotherapy, drawing on different therapeutic approaches such as CBT, Transactional Analysis, Mindfulness, Psychodynamic and Person-Centred Therapy. Transactional Analysis which informs my work, is underpinned by the philosophy that human beings have intrinsic worth and with the help of therapy, can develop greater self-awareness, heal from the past and live a more authentic life.

 

How Does Therapy Work?

 

Therapy is not a magic cure to all of your problems but will provide you with a warm, supportive and safe space in which you can freely and fully express, explore and clarifying your feelings and thoughts in a relaxed and nonthreatening way.

 

As your therapist, I will help you to make sense of your present circumstances and encourage you to "unmuddle" and organise your thoughts and feelings, enabling you to gain a clearer and more objective perspective of your life and goals.  I may need to work Psychodynamically, incorporating Inner Child Healing work to help you to understand how your past shapes and affects your present, your beliefs, attachment style and the way in which you engage with yourself, others and your world, With this understanding I can encourage you to find healing from the past and develop the life skills to better cope on a daily basis.

 

In order to move towards your future, I may help you to set realistic goals, make informed choices and explore useful tools and strategies which will help you find healthier ways of coping and dealing with whatever you encounter in life.  I may encourage you to evaluate and reassess unhelpful behaviours, explore ways you can take positive action and maintain these positive changes in different areas of your life. Ultimately, therapy offers support and encouragement to you as you discover, explore and realise your true, unlimited potential.

 

Therapy is not just about recovery but discovery - discovering new ways of thinking, coping, responding and of being.  It is not about controlling your future, but about empowerment.  It is about enabling you to develop the capacity to maintain these changes, to confidently make choices and accept the consequences and in so doing move into your future with a renewed sense of hope and purpose.

Some of the areas I offer support in are: weight-management, smoking cessation, infertility, anxiety disorders and phobias, health anxiety, OCD, stress-management, pain-management, sleep disorders, motivation and confidence, relationship issues, bereavement, anger-management, PTSD, trauma, domestic abuse, childhood abuse, narcissistic abuse, personality disorders, public speaking and self-esteem, building resilience and cancer support.

 

Certified Hypno-Oncology Practitioner

 

I offer emotional support for cancer patients and their families.  Issues I can help you with are around anxiety, fears and phobias (needles, MRI scans and radiotherapy masks, fear of dying), pain management and reducing and managing the side effects of treatment and surgery such as nausea and vomiting, fatigue and sleep issues.


Where does therapy take place?

 

Sessions take place in our consulting room in Higham Ferrers, Rushden or in the comfort of your own home - online via FaceTime, WhatsApp, Zoom or Skype.  I also offer telephone sessions.

 

Do you offer an Initial Consultation?

 

If you would like to chat to me further about how therapy can help you overcome obstacles in your life and help you to create a future that is more balanced and fulfilled, we offer an initial 30 minute consultation which is free of charge.

 

This will help us to identify your needs and to assess your suitability for hypnotherapy or counselling and whether we can work together.  You will also have the opportunity to have all your questions answered, learn more about hypnotherapy and counselling and how they can work for you.  We will also discuss your goals for therapy and how we can work together to achieve your goals.
